A man has been charged with murder following the death of Zabair Hussain on New Year’s Eve.

Idris Sadiq, 30, of Darnall Road, Darnall, will appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 7.

A 20-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and a 28-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder,remain on police bail.

Concerns have been raised about the future of Darnall Primary Care Centre
after the possibility of it being run by a private company was discussed at a public meeting.

A spokesperson for NHS Sheffield confirmed that the contract for the running of the practice, on Main Road, runs out in March and will be put out to tender imminently.

Anti-Social Behaviour Discouraging Darnall Shoppers

Residents in Darnall are concerned about the level of anti-social behaviour in their community.

At a meeting at Darnall Forum on Tuesday evening, residents said they were worried about incidences of street drinking and loitering, in particular around the betting shops on Main Road and Britannia Road.

Foodbank Appeal Launched in Darnall


Community groups in Darnall have teamed up to launch an appeal for donations to a foodbank serving their area.

The S9 Foodbank Appeal has been created by Darnall Forum and the Sheffield Muslim Community Forum to encourage residents in Darnall to donate food, clothes and toiletries to the Burgreave Foodbank, which has a local base at the Living Waters Christian Fellowship in Darnall.

Six arrested after gun fired in Manor

Six people have been arrested after a gun was shot on Queen Mary Road, Manor.

Police were called at around 4pm on Saturday 17 October following a disturbance in the street.

The window of a nearby house was damaged. No one was injured.
